What’s coming?
On April 8th, 2024 at 2 pm, Paducah Kentucky with be in the crosshairs of a breathtaking phenomenon - North America's second total solar eclipse in seven years. Totality will be about 1 minute and 31 seconds.

The centerline of any total solar eclipse path is where the totality lasts the longest. Cities located on or near this line are often considered the very best place to view an eclipse. When two eclipse paths cross, there can only be one singular point where both centerlines meet. For the 2017 and 2024 eclipses, “X” marks the spot over Cedar Lake in Jackson County, Illinois. The closest town to this exact astronomical spot is Makanda, with a population of about 500.

Paducah is just over 44 miles away and is in the path of totality “X” zones rated best for viewing the eclipse. Paducah is the perfect place to invite and host the throngs of visitors and eclipse chasers who want to be part of the excitement.

Something BIG is coming to Paducah

This exciting celestial phenomenon happens as the moon completely blocks the sun, daytime becomes a deep twilight and the sun's corona shimmers in the darkened sky. Paducah will be in darkness for approximately 1 minute and 52 seconds for the April 2024 eclipse.

Here are the times for the eclipse on April 8, 2024, for Paducah:

12:42 p.m. eclipse begins
2:00 p.m. totality begins
2:02 p.m. totality ends
3:18 p.m. eclipse ends
